Jamie Better


All about Jamie Better: Jamie Better is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Nellson as well as an Operating Partner of Kohlberg & Company, the private equity investment firm that acquired Nellson in 2013.  In these roles, Jamie is responsible for the overall direction of the company and its activities and has played an integral role in transforming Nellson under Kohlberg’s ownership.  Prior to joining Nellson, Jamie enjoyed a 30-year career in a variety of consulting and operating roles at Capricorn Holdings, Celerant Consulting, McKinsey & Co. and Whitestone Corp.  Jamie received a B.A. from Williams College and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.


Jean Filion

COO & President Canada

All about Jean Filion:  Jean Filion joined Nellson in 2014.  In his role as president of Nellson Canada, Jean oversees both of Nellson's Canada bar manufacturing sites where he applies his commitment to innovation, building strong customer relationships and creating a robust growth foundation.  Prior to Nellson, Jean held a variety of leadership positions including Chief Executive Officer of Multibar, Vice President of Operations and General Manager for companies such as, Danone, Aquaterra, Bestfoods, Unilever and Alcan.  Jean earned a B.A. degree in business administration with majors in both production and marketing at the HEC/University of Montreal. 


Bart Child

SVP Commercial Development

All about Bart Child: Bart joined Nellson in 2008 and is in charge of the Business Strategy for the Company.  In this role, he manages Nellson’s Commercial Development group which includes responsibility for sales, marketing, as well as the research & development function. With over 25 years of experience in the food industry, Bart works with his team to provide customers a turn-key service so they can focus on marketing and building their brand.  He spent many years leading commercial teams and most recently a division of McCain Foods, manufacturing value-added products for the foodservice, industrial and retail markets. Bart’s education includes a B.A. degree in accounting from Cal State San Bernardino as well as an M.B.A. in marketing and organizational development from University of California, Riverside.


Manuel Martinez


All about Manuel Martinez: Manuel joined Nellson in 2015.  He serves as director of the fiscal functions, CFO for Nellson.  Manuel brings over 23 years of experience in the food industry.  Prior to joining Nellson he served an 18 year tenure as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Windsor Foods.  In this capacity, he led the organization through tremendous organic and strategic growth, with oversight on multiple functions including finance, information technology, supply chain and sales.  Manuel holds a B.S. degree in business administration and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Riverside. Manuel is an avid soccer fan and enjoys watching his son’s club games. 


Ray Collins

VP Human Resources

All about Ray Collins: Ray joined Nellson in 2015. He leads and manages all human resources and health and safety for the company which includes 2,400 employees spread over 4 locations in the US and Canada.  Ray brings over 30 years of experience in human resources from a variety of industries, including Brown Forman, Firmenich and General Motors.  Ray earned a B.A. from Rowan University and a M.S. degree in human resources management from Wilmington University. Outside of work, Ray enjoys traveling with his family.

VP Quality & Food Safety

All about Martha Hudak-Roos: Marty re-joined Nellson in 2017 to lead the Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory functions. Marty’s Quality strategy is to design strong, integrated quality systems that consistently and reliably meet quality expectations. Marty’s dedication to food safety and quality spans over 30 years. Her Quality roles include meat packing, seafood, condiments, produce, petfood and several years as Nellson’s Director of Quality. Marty holds BS Degrees in both Biology and Chemistry and has served as a Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award examiner.
